I am very excited to announce that I will be showing two concurrent shows in Milwaukee starting July 17, 2015 – wow! I just agreed to post at Juniper 61 (6030 W North Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53213) at the same time that I am showing at Lulu’s Café (2265 S Howell Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207). I will be showing a series of abstract works at both shows – large works at Lulu’s and smaller works at Juniper 61 – but all part of the same series of work.
Last weekend I drove up to Minneapolis for the pleasure of studying with one of my favorite artists, James Edward Scherbarth. I had taken a workshop with Jim last April at Shake Rag Alley in Mineral Point, WI. I really respond to Jim’s style of teaching and got so much out of the first class, that I signed up for another course as soon as I had a chance.
Jim’s studio is located in the Northrup King building – an enormous L-shaped warehouse building in Northeast Minneapolis, that has been taken over by the local artists community. The place is filled with artist’s studios – what a dream to walk through that place!
All six of the students were comfortably placed at tables in Jim’s studio which was lined with all of Jim’s amazing work, currently for sale in his gallery. What an inspiration that was! We had three wonderful days of learning, inspiration, and creativity. Jim taught us some great techniques, and inspired us with thought provoking exercises and lectures on art and creativity.
Thanks Jim! Can’t wait to take another one of your workshops!
Just got back from a 4 day artist’s retreat in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. 8 oil/cold wax painters, sharing a beautiful space at Shake Rag Alley, working side by side – what a great trip. Coincidentally there was a plein air competition happening the same weekend in Mineral Point so we were surrounded by art and artists all weekend. It was fabulous! Below are some abstract oil/cold wax paintings I was working on during those four days, in various stages of done-ness.
Just printed up 16 new greeting card designs. They can be purchased singly for $4.00 or in packs of 4 for $13.00. The cards are blank inside, and each comes with a silver metallic envelope.
