Quite an eventful week here at Rochelle Weiner Fine Art!
First I found out that I was just juried in as a new member of the venerable ARC Gallery here in Chicago. I was juried in and will be meeting with them this weekend to find out how we get started! Here's a bit of info about them, from their website:
ARC Gallery is an internationally recognized exhibition space that has been an integral part of the Chicago art scene since its inception in 1973. Founded during the women’s movement as an alternative to the mainstream gallery system, ARC is one of the oldest co-ops of its kind in the country.
As a non-profit, woman artist-run cooperative, ARC continues its feminist tradition by providing exhibition opportunities for professional and emerging artists working in all media based on excellence of artwork, without discrimination toward gender, race, age, class, physical/mental ability, sexual, spiritual or political orientation.
Next, I learned that three of my paintings will soon be seen on national TV. Great thanks to The Leigh Gallery for setting this up!
NBC's Chicago Fire chose another of my works to use on one of their sets - it was "Florentine Market" - watercolor and ink. This is I think the 7th or 8th time they have used my work on their show.
And "Sense8", a new show premiering on Netflix in 2015 is using two watercolor works, "Testing the Waters" and "Down by the River".
And to top it all off, one of my large scale oil/cold wax paintings just sold. "Green Dawn", 36" x 36" x 2", oil/cold wax on cradled board sold yesterday at the Andersonville Galleria.
All in all, a pretty fantastic week!
